The Theseus Agency and Step Inside Productions teams combine commercial skills and experience in brand, rights, formats and distribution with a creative studio of architects and designers as well as event, marketing and operations expertise. We are able to turn entertainment brands into entertainment experiences with long-term commercial value for a new generation of consumers and audiences.
Tom Chandos is a former media investment banker and has been chairman or non-executive director of a wide range of public and private companies, non-profit institutions and other organisations over the past twenty five years. He was a founder investor in, and director of, Cine-UK Limited (later Cineworld plc), the leading global cinema operator, and Moonpig.com Limited, one of the most successful UK e-commerce businesses. He was chairman of digital agency Zone, the marketing and communications group Lopex plc, the PR and public affairs group Grayling International, the independent television production group Television Corporation plc and the specialist shopping mall company Capital & Regional plc. He is currently the chairman of the private wealth manager RM Caldecott & Partners and of the international non-profit media consultancy The Thomson Foundation; Vice Chair of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art; and on the board of the Credit Services Association, RSMB Television Research Limited, Ambie Media Limited and the Esme Fairbairn Foundation. He is a Labour member of the House of Lords and was the founding chairman of the think tank Social Market Foundation.
Dan Marks is an experienced entrepreneur and senior executive with extensive experience of developing and running broadcast, cable and online networks as well as consumer, technology and content businesses. Until 2009, Dan was the Deputy Managing Director of British Telecom’s Consumer division and CEO of BT TV. At BT he was responsible for running all aspects of the entertainment business which he launched and also for BT Consumer’s online, distribution and business development activities. Previously, he was the deputy CEO of Universal Studios Networks Worldwide, the TV networks business of Universal Studios, where he latterly ran the UK business including SyFy. Prior to that, he co-founded and was the General Director of TV3-Russia, the successful Russian commercial terrestrial broadcast group. Dan started his career as a documentary film producer and director.
Samantha Hardingham has a breadth of experience across architecture and design including management, teaching and entrepreneurial projects. She is an experienced design teacher, writer, editor and curator. Her books on architecture are best-sellers and have received international awards. Samantha has curated exhibitions in the U.K and Europe and lectured internationally. She has worked across academic and business sectors and led innovative, creative and collaborative projects that engage diverse audiences at public and private organisations. Most recently, Samantha was interim Director at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, world-renowned for its experimental approach to design teaching and thinking. During her period in office she oversaw major governance and organisational reform. Early in her career Samantha co-founded Crowbar Coffee, a string of pioneering coffee bars established in Clerkenwell, East London that triggered a number of key regeneration projects in that area, the effects of which can be experienced in the city today.
Victoria Molony is a qualified lawyer and experienced business affairs adviser specialising in media, entertainment and telecoms. She is an expert deal negotiator and contract draughtsman with experience across a broad spectrum of content and digital media rights including sports, movie and television, publishing and digital publishing for studios, television broadcasters and digital media platforms. Victoria started her career at the city law firm, Allen & Overy, followed by a period as Director, Legal & Business Affairs at Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. Victoria spent over six years as Head of Legal for BT TV, where she had responsibility for all legal issues including the pre-launch acquisition of all content for BT Sport and the launch of the YouView platform. She also led the deal team on BT’s ground-breaking acquisition of 2013-2016 Premier League rights. Victoria continues to advise a range of clients including BT, international broadcasters, Premier League football clubs, J.K. Rowling’s Pottermore and others on licensing, exploitation and distribution matters.
Benvon Crumpler is a senior brand marketing professional with 20+ years UK, European & International experience in a variety of brand strategy, guardianship and operational marketing roles. These have been across blue-chip media owners including Viacom, where she spent 11 years with Nickelodeon; Discovery Network where she spent 2 years working on the UK branded Channels portfolio & BBC Studios, where she spent 7 years working across multiple content brands and branded services.
Most recently Benvon worked in the leisure sector at Merlin Entertainments, Europe’s largest entertainment company. There she spent 3 years as European Marketing Director for the portfolio of family brands including Lego Discovery Centre, Dungeons and Sea Life and was Global Brand Director for Madame Tussauds, where she was responsible for NPD, insight, guest experience, volume driving advertising and communication to family consumers. She worked in partnership with big children’s brands such as Marvel and Warner Brothers to bring their IPs to life within the attractions through immersive, interactive experiences that surprised and delighted guests.
